Rape-flagged CPS quarterly management information

Pre-charge receipts, charging decisions, supplied charge rates and mean time to charge, with the original definitions.

What was disclosed

The CPS supplied 24 quarters of CPS management information, from January–March 2020 to October–December 2025. The latter quarter records 2,357 pre-charge receipts, 1,357 charges, a supplied charge rate of 79.0% and mean time to charge of 166.2 days.

Definitions

Receipts count suspects. The charge rate is charges divided by legal decisions; it is not charges divided by receipts in the same quarter. The time measure includes both police and CPS time, including further submissions, for suspects receiving a charging decision. Quarterly receipts and charges are not a matched cohort.

Source limitations

The figures are provisional administrative management information, not official crime statistics. Rape flags are applied at case level and may relate to only one suspect or offence. They must not be treated as the proportion of all police rape reports resulting in charge.

Extraction

Reviewed CPS workbook, worksheet Data and Caveats, cells B2:Y6. Rates are supplied source values converted to percentages. No new denominator is inferred. Source values are extracted with precision retained beyond the displayed rounding.

Reviewed disclosed workbook · The Docket

The reviewed workbook retains the disclosed data values. Requester-identifying metadata is withheld. Where available, The Docket provides labelled images of response letters with identifying details redacted.
