The Cartulary

Editorial independence

The standards that protect The Cartulary’s editorial decisions.

The Cartulary’s conclusions must follow the evidence. Financial support must not determine findings, suppress a correction or purchase favourable treatment.

Editorial control

Any agreement to support the project must preserve editorial control. Relevant financial interests or relationships must be disclosed where they could affect a reader’s assessment of a publication. Sponsored material, if introduced, must be clearly distinguished from editorial work.

The same standard for everyone

Supporters may identify an error or offer evidence through the same review process available to other readers. Corrections are decided on their merits.

Organisational disclosure

The project operates as The Cartulary. It is in its initial development stage. A detailed funding disclosure has not yet been published. This page states the editorial policy; it should not be read as a completed account of funding sources or legal status.
