A reproducible extract of 1,206 rows covering 346 local authorities represented in the source.

Transformation · version 1.0

Filter Data_Asy_D11 to 30 June 2026. Group rows by LAD Code and sum People across support and accommodation categories. “Hotel” is Contingency Accommodation – Hotel; “subsistence only” is Subsistence Only; “non-hotel” groups all remaining accommodation categories.

Checks

The extract contains 1,206 source rows and 346 unique authority codes, with no duplicate dimensional keys. The totals reconcile exactly to 93,293 people: 16,021 hotel, 73,068 non-hotel and 4,204 subsistence only. Five published local-authority totals were spot-checked.

Coverage

The geography is the local authority of the registered address. This is not a hotel-address dataset. It includes main applicants and dependants, and excludes unaccompanied asylum-seeking children supported by councils. Source data from 2018 onwards are marked provisional.

Only represented authorities appear in this extract. An absent authority has not been assigned a zero. No population denominator or per-capita rate has been calculated.

Historical Atlas extension

The interactive Atlas now includes 22 quarters from March 2021 to June 2026 from the same workbook, with ONS boundaries matching each period’s council codes. It preserves counts without a council code in the national total. Section 98 lacks council geography before December 2022; subsistence-only support lacks council geography from December 2023 to December 2024. Some Section 4 hotel recipients were classified as dispersal before March 2023. Incompatible comparisons are identified in the interface.

The map’s historical views do not alter the June 2026 extraction described above. Open The Atlas for the boundary sources, period-specific limitations and all-quarter CSV download.
